Tuberose & Moss

Tuberose has been my recurring obsession. This is the third time I’ve set out to capture her, and each time she reveals a different face. The first two were about the flower’s grandeur and its sheer, unapologetic white-floral power. This time, I’ve chased the dream version: the sweeter, fruitier, more fantastical aspects that linger in the mind long after the real petals have faded.

I imagined the kind of tuberose you might meet in a half-remembered dream; one with cream on its breath and a secret stash of ripe fruit hidden in its folds. To keep her from drifting away into the clouds, I nestled her to a classic chypre frame: a bed of soft, green oakmoss, cut with bergamot’s shimmer, warmed by labdanum, and drawn close with skin-like musk.

There’s vanilla to give the cream its depth, cedar to lend a quiet spine, and allspice berries to add the faint, exotic hum that keeps you leaning in for another breath. It’s a perfume that moves; from bright and succulent at the start to mossy and resinous as it settles, like the shift from daylight filtering through petals to the quiet green shadow at the forest’s edge.

Tuberose & Moss is an annual limited production, a fleeting chapter in my ongoing conversation with this most elusive of flowers.
